I think there would be the same amount of drug use if not more. As for the drug dealer part, they would still exist, they just would not make near the money they do now. |

Wrong. There would be less drugs if punishment for trafficking/ dealing/ using/ abusing/ however you want to phrase it were a hell of a lot higher then it is now. It is impossible to get rid of drugs altogether because there will always be bad people in this world and some bad people (and some good people) will do bad things. |

In a nutshell, yes, the theory makes sense. Will they ever legalize drugs like Heroine or cocaine, doubtful. Now Marijuana on the other hand should be legalized for many reasons but the Government has such a tight grip on that, that they keep all the funds for it themselves, why share. Who do you think controls the drug trafficking allowing these things to be circulated? Government. The theory is simple and yes it really would eliminate a large portion of violence, ect. but the top of the pyramid is so well designed that I doubt it will ever happen, it might actually promote the curiosity of more people to use it, knowing that its now legal. Plus most of these drugs are already disguised in prescription form for in home use. |

If drugs were legalized then the current people that do drugs would still keep doing them and the ones who don't will start using them (just bc they are curious). One dose of a strong drug can lead to dependence... NOT A GOOD IDEA! Although the criminal drug dealers would be put out of business they'll start making money illegally from something else and probably worse :( NOT A GOOD IDEA ALSO |

You're right, of course. The idea of criminalizing what people choose to ingest is utter f*cking madness, and an absurd abrogation of personal liberties--a crime of the state against the individual, from which only criminals can profit. |

That was tried in Holland and the level of drug use and abuse went UP, not down. |
