Why does alcoholism correlate with lower education?

Question: Why does alcoholism correlate with lower education?

I've noticed this strictly from observation High School dropouts- Definitely the most alcoholic group. Hands down. High School graduate without college- They usually drink every weekend or so, could be an acoholic. Some college- May have partied too much and dropped out. Drank too much but may not do it anymore. College graduate(Without master's/ Doctorate's)- Occasional/ social drinkers. They work hard, so not much time to drink. Master's/ doctorate's- NEVER drink. Never met someone who drank with this degree of education. Is it just me or is this the way it goes? Some college, since I'm a Freshman. I've never drank alcohol in my life though. I said MOST. Kristi, those are EXCEPTIONS. What I meant Kristi, if there was a story in my local newspaper where a 38 year old man had his 18th DUI, dropped out of high school at age 15. OF course, that would be an EXCEPTION! And tell me how it is possible to graduate from college as an alcoholic? CCC, most people in the military do NOT graduate from high school. But you didn't explain very well. I do watch the news. Guess what? Most alcohol offenders are not educated....at all. So....what are you getting at? CCC, the military pays for college but most of them do not ATTEND college. I meant a lot of them try to go into college and drop out of college. Which is true, especially out of combat. I'm waiting to hear how it is possible to do hours of homework a night and stay an alcoholic. Because it is impossible.

LOL are you serious? There have been many doctors sued because while drunk they operated on someone. Did you read about the judge using a penis pump during trial? Yes, he was intoxicated at the time.

A brain drenched in alcohol is never a good brain.

Alcohol kills brain cells...therefore making it harder to learn and making it difficult to concentrate.

You forgot to mention military. Yes I live in a military area and I see it all the time with them, with degrees and without. And have you heard of the pilots who got their pilot's licenses taken away for trying to drive a plane drunk? Have you ever been in a rich man's home? Ever notice the brandy in hand? The whiskey? With the rich cigar of course. Just because poorer people may drink more OPENLY that DOESN'T mean they're the MOST alcoholic. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but someone had to do it. I get your point but you cannot judge the world base on your observations. Watched the news lately? Who knows? You could be living somewhere in the midwest in the middle of no where. Different environments equals different opinions. But I'm sorry, maybe if you traveled the world, watched the news more often, stop staring outside your back window so much and actually got out and saw the world... Wanna see the world? I'll take you for a nice long drive to a place called reality. :) EDIT: Hun, you're trying to tell me that most military don't graduate?? Now I know you're not serious. You mean to tell me that you know military guys?? I think you really must live in one of those extremely sheltered neighborhoods where everything is "word of mouth " and barely anything is factual. And it ALSO sounds like you're up here just to justify your own personal prejudices. Trust me, I live in a military dominant area and I know a lot of military people. I even came close to joining up myself. You have to graduate high school to join. So you're wrong on that. I know my facts. AND the military pays for college. WHY the heck would they support a trooper going to secondary school if everyone supposedly dropped out?? Please get your facts straight. EDIT: How do you know that MOST of them don't attend college? Where are your facts? There are distance learning programs that infantry people do. Colleges work with the military. They even let them resume their programs if for any reason they have to stop like any normal person. Oh you'd be surprised about the hangover thing. People even work regular duty with hangovers. You'd be very surprised. Just go on a military forum and ask how many went to work with a hangover, you'll be surprised at the numbers. The trick some of them do is drink a beer in the morning so the hangover isn't pounding but leaves them slightly tipsy yet capable to work. The higher ups don't care how you show up just as long as you do the work. Once again, I know what I'm talking about. Visit the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and just start talking to random military people. You'll see.

No, Ever notice a concentration of bars with 4-6pm happy hours around office buildings so the executives can get smashed before they drive home. Only the uneducated ones who do something stupid get caught, the educated ones know how not to get caught. >_ <

You're right, it makes sense and CCC is so off it's not even funny. High school dropouts are extreme alcoholics and it is PAINFULLY obvious lol. I dropped out, had an alcohol and drug problem, but I have recovered. CCC, hate to burst YOUR bubble but I've never met someone who served our country and had a college degree. And this argument is not about the military. I've also known people who have lost jobs because of their drunken ways, so NO it is not possible to show up to work every day after a hangover. If you don't pick me for best answer, PLEASE do not pick CCC.
