I have. I used to be an alcoholic. When I say "used to be " I mean exactly that. When people say "Once an alcoholic, always an alchoholic, they haven't been saved from it by Jesus Christ. He can eliminate it, and I mean completely. I tried to quit drinking several times, but was unsuccessful. I drank EVERYDAY for years. So, it wasn't just a little. One day, I got on my knees and asked Jesus into my heart. I asked Him to cure me of this alcoholism that plagued me. And He did. I have been alcohol free for 9 years now. I don't want it. I don't need it, and I don't even crave it. It is COMPLETELY GONE! Jesus took it from me, and I praise His holy name above all names! katlady--you are wrong! You CAN be healed of it, not of yourself, but through the healing grace of Jesus Christ! I'm not the only example here. Just read!

Are you asking the R &S'ers? I was a coke head back in the late 70's and early 80's. I quit in December of '83 and have never looked back. Edit - Katlady, I feel as though I've been healed from using cocaine for many years. I didn't go to NA, either.

You can NEVER be healed, you can only stop using it for the present, at any time a person can pick drugs/ booze back up. The best thing to do is to go to NA or AA regularly, get involved, and go to a lot of meetings. I am 3 years clean of booze and every other drug by doing this. I am very happy and successful today and would never want to mess up my life by using again so I have to do all I just mentioned.

Read "Save Me From Myself " by Brian Welch. He was the guitarist from Korn, hardcore druggie, alcoholic who found God. Wrote a book, the most amazing testimony to being healed completley.

God delivered me completely from my alcoholism, drugs, cigarettes, and depression as if I never did them, all in one night, after I received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. The next day, God brought to me a good wife. We got married three months later. That was over ten years ago!

Yeah I was in a bad spot in my life. It started when I was 14 and it turned from being the cool and fun thing to do to being something that completely enveloped everything I did. I probably sounded like a junkie to my friends. Now I don't drink at all and haven't in two years (I'm 22 now, go figure I recover before I'm legally allowed to drink in the first place). The best advice I can give is to get help. Whether it's religion or a friend who is having the same problem. I felt I was in it alone, I couldn't go to any 'programs' so I picked up a guide I found online. The link to the one I picked up is at tinyurl.com/ n4brtf. It worked for me, maybe it will work for you or if you're asking for friend in that situation. Good luck!
