According to the bible, there is nothing which says that we can't drink. BUT, it does say that we need to do so in moderation, because drunkards and people who do nothing but party will never enter God's kingdom. Drugs, especially hard drugs is definitely a sin, because people's lives are ruined daily by them. And the druglords who sell them will be in danger big time for what they've done to people, for they've made their living in an illegal way. Those who get away from drugs and ask God to forgive them, will be ok, and they'll be in Heaven if they continue to live like they should and keep Christ by their side.

I see this as pretty much a no-brainer, don't you? If the point of this life is to become more godly, refine, pure, etc - then that pretty much excludes screwing around with addiction and brain altering issues, does it not?

Yes. The bible doesn't have anything against alcohol, but it clearly talks about abusing such things is a sin. Countless passages talk about the danger....

First, alcohol/ drugs are not sins, in fact in Ecclesiastes it says to enjoy pleasure: Ecclesiastes 8:15 "So I commended pleasure, for there is nothing good for a man under the sun except to eat and to drink and to be merry, and this will stand by him in his toils throughout the days of his life which God has given him under the sun. " God wants us to enjoy life, he knows how hard life can be, and wants us to enjoy the times that we aren't working. And the girl saying "Drugs, especially hard drugs is definitely a sin, because people's lives are ruined daily by them. " Uhh... hello? Alcohol ruins lives everyday too. People use all kinds of drugs everyday and are fine. It all depends on the person, and if they have self control or not. Everyday people use drugs in moderation and can control themselves... Alcohol IS A DRUG! Just because it is legal, doesn't make it any better. The Lord does speak about moderation though, God doesn't want us to drink in excess or become a drunk. So I would have the same guidelines for using other drugs... This is good for ANYTHING really... for if you use anything too much it becomes addictive. Just like drugs, they will become addicting if you use them in excess. The only thing I can think of that would condone illicit drug use is the verse obey the laws of the land. But then again, I mean, people break the law all the time. Just whatever you do, know how to control yourself, research the drug, and be safe!
